Some couples have to dig through old texts to remember their first date. We have photographic evidence.

On our very first date at Dave & Buster’s, someone walked right up to us and asked if we wanted a picture together. We looked at each other, did the slightly awkward first-date pause anyone would do, and both said, “Sure!”

And somehow, we ended up with a photo from the very beginning of our story.

The date itself was exactly what you’d expect from the two of us: competitive, playful, and full of trash talk.

Ashley proceeded to beat Tyler at basically every arcade game that wasn’t sports-related. Before things got too serious, she made one thing very clear:

“I like to win, and I can lose. But if you let me win, there will not be a second date.”

Thankfully, Tyler understood the assignment.

There was a second date. And then another. Somewhere between the competition, the laughter, the long stories, the adventures, the dogs, the food, and all the ordinary little moments in between, we found something that felt effortless, easy, full of joy and completely ours.

What started with two people saying “sure” to a random first-date photo eventually became a life we couldn’t imagine building with anyone else.

And the rest, as they say, is history.
